drumpy is a practice app for electronic drum kits. Plug in over MIDI, play the pattern on screen, and it scores every bar against the click, then picks what you should work on next time.

Green hits landed in time, amber ones were early or late, and a hollow ring is a note you didn't play.
What it does
- Scores every bar
- Each hit is matched to the note it was meant to be and graded on timing. A good bar raises the tempo, a shaky one holds it, and a bad one drops it.
- Remembers what you struggle with
- Every pattern is a spaced-repetition card with its own tempo. The ones you fumble come back sooner; the ones you own wait their turn.
- Shows real notation
- Kick figures, fills and 160 hi-hat and ride grooves, written as drum notation with a playhead that follows the click.
- Plays along with songs
- Loop a section of a track, slow it down, and keep notes at the spots that trip you up.
- Replays what you actually played
- Each attempt is saved as MIDI, hi-hat pedal included, so you can hear your take against what was written.
The beta
drumpy is in daily use by one drummer and opens to a small beta soon. For the beta you'll need a Mac, Chrome, and a Roland electronic kit connected over USB MIDI. Other kits come later.
